How does the Safety Hammer work?
The Safety Hammer combines a spring-loaded window breaker and protected seatbelt cutter in one compact emergency tool.
To use the window breaker, remove the cap and place the black end firmly against a corner of a tempered side window. Press firmly until the internal spring-loaded mechanism activates and breaks the glass.
The seatbelt cutter is housed inside the protected cutter notch. Place the seatbelt into the notch and push the tool forward through the belt until it is fully cut.

Where is the window-breaking tip?
The window-breaking tip is housed inside the black spring-loaded end of the Safety Hammer, so you won’t normally see an exposed silver point.
To use it, remove the cap, place the black end firmly against a corner of a tempered side or rear window, and press firmly. The spring-loaded mechanism activates the internal window-breaking tip against the glass.
The Safety Hammer is designed for tempered automotive glass and is not designed to break laminated glass.

What types of car windows can the Safety Hammer break?
The ReadyGuard Safety Hammer is designed for use on tempered automotive glass, which is commonly used in side and rear vehicle windows.
It is not designed to break laminated glass. Front windscreens are generally made from laminated glass, and some vehicles also use laminated glass in certain side or rear windows.
We recommend checking the markings in the corner of your vehicle's windows or your owner's manual before an emergency to identify which windows are tempered. In an emergency, use the Safety Hammer on a tempered side or rear window, not the windscreen.
How do I use it in an emergency?
To Break A Window:
- Remove the cap and hold the Safety Hammer firmly.
- Place the black window-breaker end against a corner of the tempered side window.
- Press firmly until the spring-loaded mechanism activates and breaks the glass.
- If needed, repeat on another corner.
To Cut A Seatbelt:
- Place the seatbelt into the protected cutter notch.
- Keep the belt taut where possible.
- Push the tool forward through the belt until the seatbelt is fully cut.
